ESM New Lead Agency for Older Adult Services in Washington DC

Episcopal Senior Ministries (ESM) has been awarded the contract to provide lead agency services to older adults living in Washington, DC's Ward 5. The contract, awarded by the District of Columbia Office on Aging, supports services to more than 2,000 older adults each year. ESM now manages 11 congregate meal centers and coordinates home delivered meal services, supportive services and outreach activities which include recreational services, transportation, literacy, health promotion, nutrition counseling and education. ESM also directs the citywide Center for Blind and Visually Impaired Older Adults located in Ward 5.

“We are excited about this opportunity to expand our services to older adults in the Washington community. We look forward to providing Ward 5 citizens with the quality, personalized services on which ESM has built its reputation over the past 85 years,” says ESM Executive Director, Joseph Resch, Jr. Through its Christian Communities Group Homes and Age-In-Place programs, ESM has been providing services to Ward 5 citizens for more than 25 years.

Ward 5 has the second largest population of older adults in Washington DC and includes the communities of Arboretum, Bloomingdale, Brentwood, Brookland, Carver Langston, Eckington, Edgewood, Fort Lincoln, Fort Totten (Partly in Ward 4), Gateway, Ivy City, Riggs Park (Partly in Ward 4), Langdon, Michigan Park, North Michigan Park, Pleasant Hill, Stronghold/Metropolis View, Trinidad, Truxton Circle, and Woodridge.

For information about these services, call the Lead Agency office at (202) 529-8701 or email Ward5@esm.org or visit the website www.ESM.org.
