Health discussions are held each month at 1 p.m. at Friendship Terrace Retirement Community. They are led by nurse practitioner Gail Bashore. Violence in the Workplace: Home Visit Safety, Community Interactions and Recovering from Victimization

This training will increase participants’ awareness of safety steps to take when entering neighborhoods on home visits and pointers to recognize potentially dangerous situations. You’ll get helpful tips on how to de-escalate clients. We’ll practice verbal strategies to defuse & how to avoid potentially dangerous situations. The training will address potential environmental signs as well as simple physical techniques one may choose to use if an assault happens. The trainer will also present information on what to do if you become a victim and how agencies can assist staff who have been victimized and the vicarious traumatization of other staff members.
